As a non-profit social service agency, the Community Service Center, Inc. (CSC) has served as a crossroad for the ex-offender since 1965.  There are two directions for the ex-offender to go after prison: Back to prison and 23% do return or Re-enter into society and become productive members of their families and communities which is what 77% of the Community Service Center clients do.

The average cost to incarcerate one inmate per year is $13,000.00 - $26,000.00.  This is an expense of the taxpayer.  It cost CSC $700.00 on average per client to provide services to approximately 546 clients with an annual budget of $382,200.00.

The Community Service Center works with men and women, 17 years and older who have been convicted of a felony.  The number of women with minor children seeking services continues to grow.  The Community Service Center's story makes sense on humanistic terms: helping to better the quality of life of the individual and, therefore the lives of us all.  The story also makes sense on economic terms:  keeping one individual out of prison and productive saves us money and protects our property and community.
